The Sacrament of Marriage
My dear friends, you have come together in this church so that the Lord may seal and strengthen your love in the presence of the Church's minister and this community. Christ abundantly blesses this love. He has already consecrated you in baptism and now he enriches and strengthens you by a special sacrament so that you may assume the duties of marriage in mutual and lasting fidelity.
- from the Rite of Marriage
The faithful love between a husband and wife is a mirror of Christ's love for the Church. The sacrament of Marriage, therefore, is always a celebration of the whole Church for the whole Church.
Visitor Weddings.
We celebrate many weddings each year at Maria Lanakila and Sacred Hearts Mission. Visitors from the mainland planning a wedding in our church should be prepared by their parish priest and consult our Visitor Weddings page for further information.
Parishioner Weddings.
Parishioners preparing for marriage should make an appointment with one of our priests at least four months prior to the proposed date. Couples should plan to attend an Engaged Encounter weekend retreat and participate in our parish program, From This Day Forward, facilitated by a mentoring couple.
